how he loves miso…
What a difference a week makes - even hours! Hours from that last post - I had to be induced due to low amniotic fluids and on Saturday at 1:25 AM, Cohen Riley Chen said hello for the first time. I have so much to share about him, but I need to tell you about Josh, and how he loves me so well.
Despite having to be up with me at every feeding (due to some nursing difficulties), he’s also been doing almost every diaper changes, every burping, laundry, the dishes, and countless more things that I don’t even see. And when my body shuts down and aches all over (usually around 7 PM everyday) - he kisses me on the forehead and tells me to take a nap. And when I’m crying because I’m exhausted and Cohen’s not nursing well - he hugs me and tells me I’m doing a great job. But most of all, he helps me see beyond the immediate and remind me of how lucky we are to have Cohen and how God’s blessings has been more than abundant in our lives. And he makes me laugh - a lot.
I can’t even begin to count how many times a day I’ve thought or said to him - I don’t know how I’d do this without him. And a la Rob & Big - he’s my best friend…

um… hi, missed me?
It’s been over a year and some since I’ve last posted anything or even written, but rather than dwelling on the negatives - let’s move on. Last year, our family consisted of Josh, Me, and Russell. A year later however, it’s still just Josh, Me, and Russell - but, and this is a big but (big butt!), we’re also anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little man. As of today, he’s officially a week late, and I’m more than a little ready for him to show up.
This whole pregnancy thing has been really trippy - amazing, yes! But incredibly weird and out of control at the same time - it’s definitely clear that you’re sharing your body with someone else. But after 41 weeks, the joy of pregnancy has more than slightly worn off. We have an appointment tomorrow - here’s hoping there’s some good things to report. Something along the lines of me sneezing and baby flying out
Besides - I miss my caffeine, sushi, and booze.

so this is the new year…

Josh got me this series of illustrations for Christmas from this amazing artist in the UK. It’s called “My Favorite Spot,” to which Josh responded with, “Is she always stuck in the tree?” He also got me a new camera with which I will learn to turn off the flash + take more pictures.
Christmas came and went with lots of family, food, and wii-playing. And the year ended at the convention center where we reined in the new year with almost 700 other people - all praying, praising, laughing, hugging, and in joy celebrating our crazy and amazing God. He’s been continuously reminding me through Hebrews 10:11-18 of who He is.
For 2007 - I have only one resolution: To drink more water.

The stockings are up on the mantel and tree is finally trimmed after 2 weeks of being so naked. After church today and a crossroads party, Josh and I took my parents out to dinner for my dad’s birthday. Yay for Sushi! We then went over to their house and picked up christmas ornaments from when we were really little.
Happy tree!

stockings + life

I over-ambitiously declared to the world that I was going to make stockings for Christmas this year for our little family (Josh, me, Sarah, Abe, and Joe). After a failed attempt (it was too small - about the size of a little kid’s foot), I started over. Now they’re done and decorated and ready to be hung on the mantel. Until then, they’re hanging on my bookcase.

Besides that, there’s been a quiet solemness. Not necessarily in the physical sense, but rather in the something deep covered by heaviness and the feeling that something’s not right. Thoughts float in and out of my head whenever I’m not distracted by something else. I’m having trouble sleeping again and it’s been at least 2 years since that’s been a problem. It started with james and kati and their little girls, now it’s Dennis. Lots of people have blogged about Dennis, like stone, steph, david, and others.

Dennis made people laugh - he himself didn’t laugh, he cackled, but we laughed. And somewhere it was rumored that he dried himself after a shower with q-tips. No wonder it always took him forever!
Thanks Dennis for the japanese & korean subtitled dramas on bit torrent ![]()

The ‘Couv is Rockin’
Josh and I have been working on some websites lately for random churches that have asked us. They somehow got our contact information from an old friend of Josh’s from Eastern that now dj’s and works as a music producer in Vancouver, WA. ‘Cuz you know, the ‘Couv is the music capital of the world!
We’re currently working on a site for Bible Fellowship Community Church - a multi-cultural church in vancouver that in reality is closer than some of the churches in the area. They’re a smaller congregation of about 75 people and probably 50% are African American and the others are whities. And in Vancouver - that’s pretty neat.

And here’s their current site. It’s kinda all over the place, but there’s a simon says game under the calendar menu that’s super addicting. Let us know what you think!
